[Ep 1] Al Bayquniyyah – The Science of Hadith | Imam Fuad Mohamed
Course Objectives: Two Year Comprehensive class on classical books of Hadith.
- Master the tools and methodology of Hadith scholarship: Students will familiarize themselves with the necessary tools and methods employed in studying Hadith. They will develop a solid understanding of the terminology, classifications, and principles utilized in the critical analysis and authentication of Hadith reports.
- Al-Bayquniyah: Students will engage with the text Al-Bayquniyah, an introductory poem of 34 lines dedicated to the science of Hadith. By studying this poem, students will gain a firm foundation in the fundamental concepts and techniques necessary for the mastery of Hadith scholarship.
- Al-Nawawi’s Forty Hadith collection: Students will study the renowned collection of Al-Nawawi’s Forty Hadith (al-Arba’in al-Nawawiyah), including the zawa’id (additional narrations) provided by Ibn Rajab. Through this comprehensive study, students will deepen their understanding of the Prophetic traditions and their application in Islamic practice.
- Umdat al-Ahkam by Al-Maqdisi: Students will explore Umdat al-Ahkam, a compilation of 422 Hadith reports covering various aspects of Islamic jurisprudence. Through the study of this text, students will gain insights into the practical application of Hadith in deriving legal rulings and understanding the principles of Islamic law.
- Bulugh al-Maram by Ibn Hajar: Students will engage with the renowned collection of Hadith reports compiled by Ibn Hajar, known as Bulugh al-Maram. This text covers 1358 Hadiths, encompassing a wide range of topics related to Islamic law, morality, and daily life. Students will analyze and extract valuable insights from these narrations.
- We will also be covering sections from books that deal with the manners and adab of the seeker of hadith periodically, such as Jaami’ Bayaan Al-‘ilm Wa Fadluhu – Ibn Abdil Barr, Al-Jami’ Li Akhlaq Ar-Rawi – Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi, Sharaf Ashabul Hadith and others in this genre.
- Works on Mustalah will be covered before jumping from the above works into the journey of the six major books of Hadith
